The Grand Bara is a vast desert area in the south of Djibouti which has the ideal natural characteristics for the practice of sand yachting. First of all, there is always wind, but it is not too violent, which is an advantage for beginners in this activity. Then the expanse is perfectly flat, devoid of small or large obstacle. Finally, there is a lot of space, because this desert plain is 30 kms long and 10 kms wide.
Sand yachting activity is currently only possible during the weekend, provided that the number of participants is sufficient.
One of the advantages of this activity is that everyone is able to pratice it while enjoying it, after only ten minutes of explanations.
The session can take place in the morning ; in this case we leave after breakfast in Djibouti, and we have lunch either at the restaurant in Arta on the way back to Djibouti, or on the spot on a picnic. Then it is possible to go down to Arta beach for an afternoon of snorkeling.
