The VELO RAIL is an activity offered since 2021, in the small town of Dasbiyo, near Ali Sabieh in the south of Djibouti. Dasbiyo developed around its railway station on the route of the first railway line between Djibouti and Addis Ababa in the early 1900s.
But the new railway line in service since 2018 no longer passes through Dasbiyo, which as a result had turned into a "ghost town".
Ali Liaquat, former legionnaire, lover of Djibouti and dynamic organizer of multiple activities in this country, had the idea of using, in collaboration with the local authorities, the disused railway line, to develop a VELO RAIL activity there. He therefore had a machine made and brought from France, adapted to the width of the track.
Thanks to this initiative, there is no doubt that the region will come back to life, to the delight of its inhabitants, and the pleasure of rail bike enthusiasts!
