The village of Randa is located at an altitude of 900 meters in the Goda Mountains. It is accessible via a paved road and enjoys a cooler and more pleasant climate than the coastal areas. The road distance between Randa and Tadjourah is approximately 29 km. By car, the journey generally takes between 30 and 45 minutes.
Randa is often considered one of the most picturesque villages in Djibouti thanks to: its mountainous landscapes; its proximity to the Day Forest; hiking opportunities in the Goda mountain range; its authentic rural and cultural character; its legendary giant fig tree; and its gardens. The Randa region also possesses significant archaeological wealth, notably the “Awellos,” ancient gigantic burial stones dating back several millennia, on the verge of being listed as potential cultural heritage by UNESCO.
